CONTRA 2.0: Getting different machines working together as an automated team.

A common feature of factories is the great diversity in the age of their machines, their function and type, and the range of, often incompatible, communication technologies they use. This becomes a problem when a company plans to integrate its infrastructure with the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Warehousing Management System (WMS) and/or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The specificity of these systems requires that all their elements can freely exchange data with each other. Manufacturing company, ACORD worked with CONTRA to address this challenge. They seek to breathe new life into the way machines work together by using the FIWARE platform to connect selected devices to the CONTRA system. Once connected, all machines and robots will gain the IoT capabilities crucial to getting and sharing production line data. In addition, CONTRA 2.0, as a smart service, will enable adjusting warehouse tasks to optimise the production process and just-intime delivery.
