Danilo Mascolo started his career as independent researcher in the University Federico II, where he graduated summa cum laude in Electronic Engineering and Information Theory, developing a pioneering data-driven diagnostic tool to characterize dynamic instability in Power ICs, done on Silicon, Silicon-Carbide and Gallium-Nitride.
In June 2002, He joint STMicroelectronics in the Corporate R&D and lead as R&D manager the development of several emerging technology platform and devices in Flexible Electronics, Field-emission and Energy Harvesting, Si-Optics, Biotechnology and Embedded Computing by Neuro-Fuzzy-based MicroController and Muti-states Flash Memory. In these years, He also was involved in advanced research program on Molecular and Carbon-based Electronics in US, UE and Singapore, where he contributed to start-up operations of a new R&D Centre with the support of Local Authority (EDB) , Universities and Research Centers.
In July 2009, He moved in Confindustria Emilia-Romagna – the Federation of Industry Associations in the Emilia-Romagna Region - as Consultant deploying innovation management services to the Associate Companies Network (>7.000). After 3Ys pilot, the initiative turned into a Company and He was named Chief Innovation|Technology|Services Officer in charge of company day-by-day operations. Over the years, He supported >1.000 companies in consolidated and digitalized value chains and was involved in > 100 innovation and R&D projects as well as technology transfer with overall 150M€ effort and a network of >1.000 business and research partners.
He was a pioneer in Open Innovation practice, settling up an IT platform funded by regional public grants supporting the match-making of request and demand of technology, assets and skills in 2012.
Currently, He is the Chief Innovation, Business Development and Strategy of Bi-Rex, the Italian National Competence Center on Industry 4.0 coordinating the European Digital Innovation Hub on Big Data Processing & HPC for sustainable digital Manufactoring. In the past the was also in charge of the Scientific Direction of the Emilia-Romagna Digital Innovation Hub of Confindustria ER, Board Member of 2 Public-Private Partnerships on Photonics and Large-area Electronics, Si-Thermoelectricity, in the Scientific Committee of the Emilia Romagna Government Agency for the sustainable growth, innovation and knowledge, attractiveness and internationalisation Affairs, in the “Data Lab” on training on Big Data and AI 4 Robotics and Agile Production..
He is also an expert\rappourter for the European Commission on Quantum Technology, Material Science, Cyber- physical System-of-Systems and Innovation Ecosystem (CSA), advisor of private equity funds.
