Elias Kosmatopoulos
Elias B. Kosmatopoulos received the Diploma, M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Technical University of Crete, Greece, in 1990, 1992, and 1995, respectively. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Democritus University of Thrace, Greece and a collaborative Professor with the Information Technologies Institute, Cetnre for Research & Technology, Hellas, Greece. Previously, he was a faculty member of the Department of Production Engineering and Management, Technical University of Crete (TUC), Greece, a Research Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering-Systems, University of Southern California (USC) and a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, University of Victoria, B.C., Canada. Dr. Kosmatopoulos’ research interests are in the areas of learning systems, adaptive optimization and control and their applications to Internet of Things; energy efficient buildings and smart grids; intelligent transportation systems; and robotic swarms. He is the author of over 55 journal papers. Prof. Elias Kosmatopoulos has been leading many research projects funded by the European Union and the private sector with a total budget of about 17 Million Euros.
