I think the whole industry has to think and be more human-centric. A working human with all possible support from available technology is the most agile system conceivable.

I think that the way we’ve implemented these TTEs across the DIH² Network is a great model. On the surface, DIH² is a big European project, however when it came to execution the TTEs operated at a local level. This meant we were able to talk the same language and understand the industrial culture that they worked in.

I’m a little bit obsessed with the future and how robotics will fit into it and help deliver solutions for the challenges we already face as well as the additional challenges that will materialise.

Modern manufacturing is under increasing pressure, and there is a requirement to be able to rapidly modify processes within the manufacturing environment.
 

SMEs lack money and time, and of this the most critical piece is time.
 
 
 

You know with Lego you don’t need to worry about how you join pieces together – there’s no welding or gluing required – rather it’s a very simple plug and play methodology and it provides an easy introduction into robotics.

Agile Manufacturing is in our DNA in Slovenia. We’re a small market of just over 2 million people, so to be competitive we’ve had to learn to be agile.
 
 

As a result of DIH² we’ve become more involved in robotics – we better understand the domain and we’ve been able to build out a community based around robotics and Industry 4.0.
 

I want industry to see the benefits of robots, and understand that robots are about people. A mantra of humans first, robots second.

I’m looking forward to the exchange programme and learning from one of the other DIHs how they work hands-on with SMEs and how their own service structure is built.

The DIH² Network offers opportunities to see beyond your own current borders and see what’s happening in other RTOs and innovation centres across Europe.
 
 
 

At a macro level, I think we are all trying to deal with the same themes when it comes to agile production. Everyone needs to digitise their processes, everyone needs to figure out how they can afford to buy a particular system, and everyone needs to determine who is going to work with the robots.

That‘s what I love about the DIH² Network - we‘re all in different locations and have different skill sets but {{..}} we all want to make the manufacturing industry better.

During my university studies I was often one of only 2 or 3 women in the class.

 

I’d like to see robots do the jobs that I don’t want either my children or my parents to have to do.
